A Little Laugh

We captured a little of Ellie's new laugh on camera. She laughs in the very beginning and then here and there in the middle. Just a glimpse, but she makes her other happy noises too!

(note-Tom thinks he sounds creepy but is willing to post the video for the sake of Eloise)

Eloise 3 Months + 2-3 Weeks

It's been hard to find the time to do a posting lately. Tom was out of town last week enjoying some "guy" time camping/diving/snorkeling/canoeing in Florida. I'm glad he got to get away and relax a bit but it was a LONG week for me! He's traveling again this week for work but thankfully it's only for a couple of days this time. Eloise and I kept ourselves pretty busy but nights were hard. Even though Tom doesn't get up during the night on week nights, it's still nice having a partner there. One major highlight of the week was that I finally saw a movie in the theater! It was a special 'movies for moms' deal where you can bring your baby and it's okay if they cry or make noise during the show. Nicole, her little guy Brayden, Eloise and I went to see Valentine's Day. Both kiddos did really well and I was in heaven. Tom and I used to go to movies all of the time so it was fun to be in the theater again and see previews. I think that Eloise really liked the big screen too. She sat on my lap for a good amount of time just staring.

Reunited with dad after his week away.

We were super excited last week was to meet Charlie Kippley. He arrived 4 weeks early but is a healthy little guy and weighed almost the same as Eloise, 6lbs, 11oz. He is so so so cute and it was nice holding a little sleepy peanut again. It is crazy what changes occur within 3 months and 3 weeks of being born. I'm so happy for Robyn and Brian and also looking forward to having another mom friend home for awhile!

I wanted to get a pic of just Eloise and Charlie together but forgot and then Ellie was sleeping in her car seat when we left. Tom reminded me that I will have MANY opportunities to do this :) I look forward to our kids playing together for many years to come (and soon to be joined by little krieg and baby endorf!)

Snuggling the little guy. Robyn as a proud new mama. Stella still in the action.

Eloise graduated to a new toy. It's somewhat of a monstrosity but she seems to enjoy it. I didn't end up registering for an exersaucer (name of toy) while pregnant because I was so overwhelmed by the selection. After hours of registering at Babies R Us, I just couldn't face that aisle. Too much bright plastic in bold colors! Eloise still likes laying down on her mat and reaching out to grab toys but her new jumper lets her sit up, move her legs, bounce and explore lots of wacky attachments.

Look at this thing. Tried to hide it in the office for book club and couldn't fit it through the door!

Eloise as a busy little bee playing.

While Ellie's growth is obvious, I can also tell she is getting older developmentally. Tom and I had the BEST experience with Eloise on Sunday night (possibly so far, definitely in my top 5 moments). I was getting her ready for her bath and started doing "this little piggy" with her toes and she started laughing! She has been giggling for a few weeks but this was a full out chuckle that went on for a minute or two. Luckily Tom was just in the other room filling up the bath and came running in. We both started laughing and kind of tearing up too. It was the most wonderful sound and SO funny at the same time. I did everything I could the next day to try and get her to laugh like that again. Nothing. Finally on thursday I did some random type of noise/face as I was getting her dressed and she started chuckling again. I got one more chuckle later on while she was in her exersaucer but nothing like the sunday night laugh. I just cannot wait until she is laughing all the time!

Eloise has found her feet and it's so cute! Here are some fun photos of her grabbing them and smiling.

Play time with dad. Tom trying to get her to walk even though she has yet to roll.

I took some random photos after our Early Childhood Education class last week. Sometimes the least planned ones turn out surprisingly fun. These capture some classic Eloise expressions.

4 month doctor appointment next week! Wish us luck with those shots.

Baby Photo Face Off #2

The latest comparison, Eloise versus Mom at 3 months old. I keep hearing that she looks like me and so far I think she still does. This is much to Tom's dismay as he really wants Eloise to look like him (I'm not currently taking this as an insult, he married me so I'm assuming he likes the way I look and that it is more of a dad/daughter thing, right honey???). She still might end up looking like Tom as she gets older...

Eloise was able to spend some time with her great grandma sylvia who recently turned 90 and is one special lady. We were trying to figure out what # great grandchild Eloise is and I think we came up with #14 - wow!

I have a hunch that Eloise might be an early talker. She has been so vocal since only a month or so old. Now I can't even talk while feeding her. If I do she stops to look at me and tries to have a conversation! It's extremely adorable but makes the feeding process even more of a process. This is one of the photos from her 3 month old group I took the other week, but it's so funny to me because she is trying to have a convo with the teddy bear.

I discovered a new way to make tummy time enjoyable but it involves me making a fool of myself. Basically I play a baby tunes cd, sing along to the songs in a very out of tune way and do really crazy dance moves that don't even fall into the category of "dance" but I'm not sure how else to describe them. All of this foolishness makes Eloise smile and laugh and forget that she's in the dreaded tummy time position. Anything for the little one! I couldn't really dance around because I had to hold the camera somewhat steady but you can listen to my really bad singing and see Ellie's reaction.

Eloise is excited about her first Valentine's day. Of course Abuela and Grandpa had to give her some gifts to celebrate. Her favorite? A new little book called "mama do you love me". A few more books under her belt and she'll be ready to join book club (we are a very intense group).

I'm on pins and needles waiting for the birth announcement of one of Ellie's future boy friends (or boyfriends)!! Happy Valentine's Day!

1/4 Of The Way To One

Our little Eloise is 3 months old this week. Hmmm, the past three months have been the most exhausting three months of my life but also the most exciting. I realize that is very cliche to say but it is true. I have always heard how a child changes everything blah blah blah...but there is nothing that compares to creating a human being, carrying her around in your uterus for 9 months, meeting her in person, and then assuming full responsibility for the care of the most adorable little person you've ever met. I get where the protective mama-bear feelings come from now! I'm normally one to go with the flow but I'm pretty sure I would throw a punch if needed to protect my little one. It would be my first ever punch but I wouldn't test me on this one :)

3 Month Photo Shoot

Look at her long legs and feet!

Ellie and Pinky

Sitting up so well and then...

...toppled over. She seemed to enjoy this position after the crash. Whatever sort of "tummy time" she enjoys she can do!

Just hanging out.

We've continued mall walking with some of our buds. I really appreciate the mom areas at Von Maur and Nordstrom's.

Eloise and Brayden

Ellie and Ella

Eloise and her friends are all about their hands in their mouth! It is really funny watching her watch and discover her hands. I snapped some photos of the first time she gripped the side of her bouncy seat. She held on tight with her left hand and kept exploring with her right hand and kicking her legs.

I'm too tired from the past 13 weeks to think of anything else to say besides happy 3 month birthday Eloise!
