And baby makes 3!
Wow, a lot can change in a week! What an amazing week it has been though. Eloise Rosalyn was born wednesday, november 4th at 12:38pm. She weighed 6lbs 12oz and was 21.5" long. She is a peanut but a long peanut! Tom and I are so happy to have her here in person. A note on her name. We both really liked the name Eloise and the nickname versions of Ellie and Elle. It's not a very common name and kind of old fashioned, but it still felt classic to us. Rosalyn is my dear grandma who passed away in March. I hope she carries on her spirit and enjoyment of life! Tom and I can't believe we kept her name a secret the entire time. I'm glad we did, it's a fun surprise to share. There is so much to cover, it's overwhelming! So I'm going to use photos to cover the past 7 days. Oh and happy 1 week birthday Ellie!

Having contractions Tuesday night. My sign says "is this for real?" Yep, it was but not quite as soon as I hoped. 40 weeks and 5 days, I was ready to have a baby. We had just scheduled an appointment to be induced on thursday morning. I timed my contractions at home starting at 5pm. I'd been having pains all day but they were not steady then around 5:00 I had to stop what I was doing each time I felt a "pain" so I decided to start timing them. We called the doctor around 9pm and headed to the hospital around 11pm. Contractions were 2-3 minutes apart at that point. Unfortunately, once there I didn't continue to progress and the doctor was concerned about the umbilical cord being wrapped around some part of the baby's body. So around noon the next day, we decided the best option was to have a c-section and 10 minutes later I was in the operating room!

First time seeing and holding Eloise. Tom has a stomach of steel and watched the entire c-section. The umbilical cord was wrapped around her legs twice and her foot once. The doctor noted this might have been why I felt so much kicking.

First diaper put on by dad! This should be a requirement for all new moms and dads. Meanwhile, I'm being stitched back up...

Dad and Eloise looking at each other. This was during the "alert" time immediately after she was born. I got to stare on from my bed (one downside of c-section).

Finally! My turn to hold her. She is perfect!

Mama and babe. I love how her face looks so scrunched. Lots of people have commented that so far her eyes/nose look like me. We'll see how she continues to grow. I do see some resemblence to my baby photos though.

Getting ready to leave the hospital. She is so tiny in her seat. Side note...the "going home outfit" is a bit over-rated in my book. It was fun to see her in a non-hospital look but you get home and then what? Staring at her occupies so much of my time, she could just be in a diaper and I'd still be enthralled!

This photo makes me laugh. It looks like she is kind of smiling and I think she also looks like my baby photos here. Eloise loved her first car ride. She promptly fell asleep. It was an oddly warm and beautiful november day too. I'm glad we didn't have to worry about a snowstorm in addition to leaving the hospital, you never know in Minnesota.

At home with our new girl and our "little boy." Parker is adjusting better than expected. He really doesn't have much interest in Eloise. He's also been happily sleeping on my side of the bed when I get up in the night. I love how these photos show the size difference between Eloise and Parker. And dad's hand compared to Eloise's tiny body.

Eloise hanging out in her chair. Her feet were nice and toasty in her smart wool socks!

Eloise and mom's first outing (Eloise looked much cuter than mom and mom did not feel the need to have her own photo taken). We made a middle of the day run to Babies 'R Us for a few necessary items. The timing worked perfectly, in between eating and pooping, and she slept the whole time. I'm sure we will not always be that lucky. It was good for me to have a practice run while dad is still home too.

My friend Robyn gave me these adorable 0-12 month stickers to put on a onesie. Here is Eloise's 0 month photo. She was technically 5 days old but I think she was still well within the "0 month" window.

Eloise posed next to her teddy bear for a size comparison.

A little head support from mom for a close up!
This post took a lot of concentration, I'm wiped out.
Onto week 2...
