The Pool

The stars aligned (or something like that) and Tom and I were able to finally take Eloise to the pool for the first time last week. When trying something new that we really want her to enjoy we try extra hard to get the timing right i.e. not tired and not hungry. (And for the pool I would add an extra special "not likely to have a massive diaper blow-out that would be super disgusting and embarrassing"). It's really surprising just how short that window can be when you finally make it out of the house and arrive at your destination. Lucky for us the pool is no less then 5 minutes away. We think Eloise would give the pool experience two baby thumbs up. We started out in the kiddie section that is really shallow so she could test the waters.

Liking the super-sized bath time

Checking out the other pool goers

I could get used to this!

After lots of smiling, splashing, and staring (Eloise staring at other people which she finds very entertaining), we advanced to the deep end. We decided to throw her in and see if she would figure out the whole swimming thing. Okay, just checking to see if you're really reading or just skimming the pics.... I held her in the deep end and let her kick her little legs in the water. It was pure fun. Could her itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny-yellow-polka-dot-(not)bikini and matching hat be any more adorable??

Tom and I were really focused, we kept the in-pool experience to about 20 minutes and immediately followed up with a refreshing bottle. Just enough time to "test the waters" and part of our perfect timing strategy.

We shouldn't have been so worried about a freak out, Eloise had a great time. I, on the other hand, was a tad bit traumatized after my first post-baby bathing suit in public appearance. Note for the future, do not buy bathing suit tops when nursing, the fit will not be the same when done nursing. Instead I'll coordinate with Eloise as I plan on ordering a matching towel that says "Jessica" across the front for next time :)
