Eloise Evolution 0-12

The past 12 months were challenging but also the most rewarding months out of my thirty years. Eloise brings so much joy to our lives but I tell you, the amount of guilt and worry that also come along with this job are unbelievable! Luckily the good tends to outweigh the stress. And she is just so darn cute, that helps a lot too :)

The stats spread out a bit this appointment.
Height: 30" 75th-90th percentile
Weight: 20lbs 5oz 25th-50th percentile

At 12 months Eloise is walking! She can walk across the room but she is a bit wobbly. She can stand up from a sitting position (by first going into a sort of tri-pod with her butt in the air). I love holding one of her little hands and walking around with her, such a big girl! She is also starting to climb or trying to climb onto everything. Opening and closing doors is still a hilarious activity but now we're getting a "hi" (or maybe it's a "bye" they sound really similar) with every door opening. We discovered the other night that she loves being tossed gently onto a pile of pillows (very gently). She will also dive on her own into the pillows, it is too funny. Eloise likes to find all buttons that she should not push and push them and also any knobs that she should not turn and turn them.

Case in point, she is pushing the button on the noise machine while turning the knob on the humidifier.

Her vocab is increasing and it's so fun to hear! I didn't realize how slowly the words start, kind of like how I thought all of a sudden a baby would just full on smile one day for the first time versus working up to it. So now I'm a little unsure about what Eloise's first word actually was! She has a few things she seems to say quite a bit, the cutest is she sings E-I-E-I-O along with the Old Macdonald song. She also says daddy, fish, Parker, what's that, ssssss (for snake), turtle, hi, bye-bye, and it's sounded like she's said all done, up, and supercalifragilisticexpialladocious. Maybe not the last word. Eloise is also a master pointer and points out what she wants with what also sounds like "that". She LOVES music and dancing. I may have said this at some point, but when we sing "itsy bitsy spider" she moves her fingers trying to copy what we do for the spider. Her dancing is so funny, kind of bobbing up and down, it is very often a comment on her daycare sheet that "danced" to what ever music that day.

She is a little dare devil.

A new scream/whine/cry recently developed. It comes on in a flash and also disappears quite quickly too if Eloise gets what she wants. Is this a sign of toddler-hood? She can be quite sweet too and will give "hugs" by laying her head on my shoulder. The two teeth on the sides of her front teeth are coming in so she now has 6 visible teeth. We need to start brushing those!

A little something I'm calling The Eloise Evolution...it was REALLY tough to choose which photos to use but I stuck with the teddy bear to show the size comparison!

Glad I was able to keep up the monthly photos (thanks again Robyn for the stickers!). On to the second year!
